How Do We Keep Our Copywriting Fresh?

It’s easy to fall into a rut if you’ve been a copywriter for some time because everything you write seems to sound the same. As a copywriter, I don’t want to create it, myself nor see stale writing on my desk from people I hire.

So, how do we keep our copywriting fresh?

Reading and exposure to other writer’s styles will help you write better. Read magazines, novels, and blogs to give you ideas, ideas to diversify your vocabulary, and show you fresh perspective to describe something without being boring. I love reading subjects beyond my usual range.

Some of the great places to pick up ideas are personal ads, product reviews and blog comments. I love to see what the customers and the common people are saying, and what they care about.

Go to crowded places – to hear other people talk and what they are saying. This will expose you to different points of view, and ways of thinking. It doesn’t even have to be related to your client’s product.

Avoid being “dated” – like using popular phrases because soon they become clichés and lose their freshness.

Learn About The Current Reading Habits – today fast pace life has contributed to the reduction of reading. People are busier and read less for enjoyment. They read shorter articles like do-it-yourself or how to materials, news, and more illustrated materials.

How Can We Command A Reading?

We don’t have to collect more pictures and write clever captions. We don’t have to write it short and crappy. Instead, we have to write with such clarity that even the busiest person will make time to read it.

I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. Then again, I found it difficult to develop a writing exercise plan for myself at first. Even so, I try to learn a new word every day to add range of words that bring freshness to my copy. I have also developed the outlining skills to help improve my form and clarity. And, whenever I have an idea, I write it down because I know that it is the beginning of a great book, or article. I know there is so much to learn, and I have all the time in the world for it. Now I find it easier to step outside myself and write ideas in words that set my copy on fire.

Do We Let Our Ego Sabotage Us?

Our ego is one of the most self-destructive mechanisms of our character and abilities. It can become our greatest obstacle to our personal development because the way we view the world depends on it.

The role of ego

Our ego directs everything that goes in our everyday experience. Our perception of any event will determine our positive, negative, an opportunity, or a setback experience. Most of the time, we have no awareness of the strong influence our ego has on our perception because it is part of our memory and consciousness. It is intimately involved in planning, controlling and conforming to reality.

We thought our ego was the same as ourselves. It’s who we are and separate from our environment. Many of us don’t realize the truth that we are not our ego. We are a soul. Our ego is about attention and power. Our soul, on the other hand, is about happiness and love. However, many of us choose the attention and power over love and happiness. Since we don’t normally realize that our ego’s agenda is not our interest, we make our ego’s priorities our own. Many of us spend our entire life chasing our ego’s goal. Many people consider the power of positive thinking as utter nonsense. They don’t take it seriously. They scoff at people who believe it because they either don’t know what they meant, or they don’t consider them effective.
